My family means the world to me.  I want them to live in a city where they can get a good education, a job and afford a home.

I was born in South Asia and came here as a child.  Canada is the only country I know, and it is my home.  I am passionate about becoming the official Candidate for Windsor West to support Pierre Poilievre.  I need your vote.

This is how I feel about Windsor, Ontario:

The Heart of Diversity: A Journey Through Windsor’s Cultural Tapestry

Windsor has a very large multicultural population and is very welcoming to new immigrants.

When I stepped off the plane and onto Canadian soil for the first time, I was only a young girl.  My family had left behind the vibrant chaos of Pakistan, seeking new opportunities in a land that promised freedom and prosperity. Our destination was Windsor, Ontario—a city that, over the years, has become a true mosaic of cultures and communities.

My  First Impressions

As a child, the first thing I noticed about Windsor was its diversity. Walking down the streets, I heard a symphony of languages. The storefronts displayed a variety of scripts—English, French, Arabic, Chinese, and more. My school was a microcosm of this multicultural city. I met friends whose families hailed from Italy, Lebanon, China, and Greece. Each brought a piece of their heritage into our classrooms, sharing stories, traditions, and foods that were as different as they were delicious.

Embracing New Traditions
One of the most beautiful aspects of Windsor’s diversity is how it embraces and celebrates different cultures. Festivals became a cornerstone of my new life. The Windsor-Essex Multicultural Council hosts events where communities showcase their traditions through dance, music, and cuisine. I remember attending the Carrousel of Nations, where each pavilion transported us to a different part of the world. I danced to the rhythms of Africa, savored the spices of Mexico, and marveled at the intricate costumes from Eastern Europe.

Building a Community

Despite the initial challenges, adapting to a different school system, and missing home—Windsor’s welcoming spirit made the transition smoother. The city is home to numerous support services for newcomers. The YMCA, Multicultural Council, and other organizations offer language classes, employment workshops, and social events to help immigrants integrate.  I excelled in school, all thanks to the support I received.

The Windsor We Know Today

Today, Windsor is a thriving hub of cultural exchange. The city’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in its policies and community programs. Local businesses reflect this diversity, with restaurants, shops, and markets offering goods from around the globe. Windsor’s cultural centers, such as the North American Black Historical Museum and the Art Gallery of Windsor, celebrate the contributions of different communities to our shared history.

A Personal Reflection
Looking back, my journey from Pakistan to Windsor has been one of growth, acceptance, and discovery. Windsor’s diversity has shaped my identity and broadened my horizons. It has taught me the value of understanding and respecting different perspectives. As I walk through the city’s parks, attend its festivals, and interact with its people, I see the beauty of a community that thrives on its differences. Windsor is not just a place; it is a living, breathing testament to the power of diversity.

In Windsor, every story, like mine, adds a unique thread to the rich tapestry of our shared experience. And for that, I am forever grateful.

In Windsor West we have a diverse community of people from all over the world.  Every voice needs to be heard.  Every RACE, every RELIGION, working together for better results for this city. Windsor West should be a bustling city filled with good paying jobs, and affordable housing.  We need long lasting jobs like the Gordie Howe Bridge that was started by the Conservatives and provided over 2,000 jobs and 43% were local. This is a massive priority for the Conservative Party and one that I will make a priority.

We have had 22 years of NDP leadership and I have seen this city fall apart.  Empty buildings, boarded up, people afraid to walk downtown at night.  We should have a bustling city that attracts tourists, and large employers.  And build houses and apartments for the employees of these companies.  Detroit downtown had a massive make over, we could do that too if we work together.

I look forward to meeting everyone in this riding, to show you that I am a strong applicant for the Windsor West riding .  My biggest priority is making sure that we get the right funding to fix our city.   I will work tirelessly along side of Pierre Poilievre if I am voted as the official Candidate for Windsor West.
